Meet Dr. Jeffrey Echelberger

Dr. Echelberger grew up in South Bend and Carmel, Indiana. He graduated from Indiana University with a B.S. in Biochemistry in 1983, and then Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas in 1987. In 1988 he completed a one year Advanced Education Program in General Dentistry in the U.S. Army at Ft. Campbell, KY. He served over six years active duty in the U.S. Army Dental Corps including living in Hanau, Germany from 1988-92.

Dr. Echelberger feels that it is very important for the dental health of his patients that he keep current with technology and new dental techniques. He is constantly increasing his knowledge by attending 50-100 hours of continuing education courses every year(the minimum for Kentucky licensure is 15 hours per year). He has taken many courses given by some of the Masters of Cosmetic Dentistry, including an intensive live patient program with the esteemed Hornbrook Group, which concentrated on cosmetic smile design and reconstruction.

He also enjoys giving of his talents by providing free dental care to the less fortunate. Dr. Echelberger has done Dental Mission work in Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic and they have all been very rewarding experiences. The whole office also volunteers every year for Smile Kentucky, co-sponsored by the Louisville Dental Society and University of Louisville School of Dentistry, where we provide free Dental screenings and Dental care to children in our own community.

He is an active member of the American Dental Association, Kentucky Dental Association, Louisville Dental Society, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and has served on the board of the Kentucky Chapter of the AGD.

When not creating beautiful smiles, Dr. Echelberger shares his life with his wife Cheryl Thurman and his two sons, Drew and Mitch. He enjoys traveling, gardening, sports, cycling, and is an avid tennis player. He is a big IU fan, an Indianapolis Colts fan and a lifelong diehard Chicago Cubs fan. He also stays involved in the community, being active in his church, and as a member of the Rotary Club of Suburban Louisville, and Past-President of the St. Matthews Rotary Club.
